Iraq’s newly re-elected President Jalal Talabani will officially name incumbent Premier Nouri al-Maliki as prime minister-designate on Sunday.
Maliki will also be given one month to form his cabinet, ending the country’s long-lasting political deadlock after the country’s general elections in March.The Sunday parliament session is to focus on the formation Â of the Council of Representatives’ committees and the chamber’s regulations, Shiite News reported.
Earlier this month, Iraq’s main factions reached an agreement based on Maliki remaining in office another term and the Kurdish alliance’s Talabani retaining the presidency.
