Huge crowds of Tartous inhabitants participated in a mass rally on the Coastal Corniche that was organized by a group of Syrian youths in the province to stress national unity and reiterate support to the comprehensive reform program.
The participants stressed rejecting of foreign intervention in Syria’s affairs, hailing the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army to preserve Syria’s security.
The event included raising a 120-m long and 18-m wide Syrian flag, in addition to a military parade.
In a statement to SANA, a member of the organizing group, Qaysar Dergham said that “We raised the largest Syrian flag in the same day in 2011 and we are here today to prove to the whole world that we are here in all squares no matter the crisis is.”
Head of the General Union of Syrian Craftsmen in Tartous condemned all sabotage acts committed by the armed groups, stressing support to reforms and the army in its struggle against those who are destroying the homeland.
A member of Shabab Souria al-Amal group, Hussein Hamdoush, stressed that all Syrians will remain united under Syria’s national flag.
Some participants said that they wanted to convey a message that the Syrian people’s awareness and strong willingness are able to build the future of the homeland.
