Leading Shia party Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has made a high-level contact with Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehrik Insaf to seek change of protest day ahead of anniversary of Imam Hussain (AS)’s Chehlum.
MWM sources disclosed to the Shiite News here that Nasir Abbas Shirazi, Secretary Political Affairs of the MWM have made contacts with Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jehangir Tareen of the PTI and shared Shia Muslims concern with him.
“Mr. Shirazi informed the PTI top leaders that Shia Muslims were observing the annual mourning to commemorate the great martyrs of Karbala and their chehlum anniversary will be observed on Saturday December 13 and mourning congregations and processions will also be held on Friday,” an official of the party said.
He apprised them that Shia Muslims were supporting their anti-PMLN stance because of Nawaz Sharif government’s pro-terrorists policy and also condemns Gullu Butt Culture but PTI should respect the sentiments of Shia Muslims because Imam Hussain (AS)-led great martyrs of Karbala are the heroes of humanity and all oppressed nations respect them as their own leaders and role models.
“Nasir Shirazi asked them to reschedule their Karachi protest day from December 12 to any other suitable date so that their protest doesn’t collide with the chehlum anniversary-related mourning programs,” said the MWM source
