People in civilian clothes believed to be cops of Pakistan Rangers took two Shia elders into custody after they were returning from funeral procession of two martyrs. They were handed over to police who booked them in false cases after torturing them severely.
Hassan Abbas and Mushahid Abbas were taken to Sohrab Goth police station. Inquiry officer Haji Imtiaz registered false cases against them. They were produced in Malir Court. Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen’s office bearers Mohammad Mehdi, Asghar Zaidi, Aftab Alam and Ahsan Mashhadi provided legal aid to the wrongly detained Shia elders.
The defense lawyer argued against their remand and against police custody. Finally, the court referred them to jail custody. The MWM office bearers said that they would be released on Monday since Saturday and Sunday are weekly off-days of the Court.
