Allama Riaz Najafi letters to Prime Minister and COAS to seek Shaikh Mohsin off 4th schedule

Allama Riaz Hussain Najafi, head of Hawza Ilmiya Jamiatul Muntazir, has sent letters to the Prime Minister, Chief of Army Staff, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and federal interior minister expressing his serious objection to the cancellation of citizenship of Allama Shaikh Mohsin Ali Najafi. He demanded of them to take notice of unjustifiable action against the patriot and respectable senior Shia scholar. The letter was also sent to the commissioner of Islamabad in this regard.

The head of federation of Shia religious seminaries Ayatollah Riaz Najafi expressed concern on including the name of Allama Mohsin Najafi in the fourth schedule list and freezing of his bank accounts. He demanded immediate withdrawal of all said unjust action against the law-abiding senior Shia cleric forthwith.
He said that National Action Plan was a good course of action and all Pakistanis appreciated that plan because it helped decrease the lawlessness and terrorist attacks as compared to the past. He said that the NAP should not be misused against any pro-peace patriot Pakistani.
“Allama Mohsin Najafi is head of the supreme council of federation of Shia seminaries. He never remained involved in any illegal activity. He never preached violence or intolerance. He always preached love, tolerance and anti-extremism ideology of Islam,” he said.
Ayatollah Riaz Najafi said that inclusion of Shaikh Mohsin Najafi’s name in the fourth schedule was considered a clear message to peaceful Shia Muslims of Pakistan who are dismayed and angered due to unfair and discriminatory inclusion of peaceful law-abiding anti-extremism Shia scholar.
He demanded exclusion of all peace-loving Pakistani Shia notables and scholars from fourth schedule because they have never remained involved in inciting people to violence nor they ever supported the ideology of hatred and intolerance.
It is relevant to add here that Allama Ami Shaheedi, Allama Maqsood Domki of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and several other Shia scholars and notables were wrongly implicated in the fourth schedule in what appeared a bid by biased officials within the State authorities to equate them with the terrorists of banned terrorist outfits and their facilitators.
