The 27th death anniversary of Allama Safdar Hussain Najafi, a great scholar of Shia Islam in Pakistan, is being observed in all over Pakistan today. He was a renowned hero of Pakistani Shiites in the field of politics and Islamic sciences.
Although Agha Shaikh Shariat based in Karachi had introduced Imam Khomeini in Pakistan even before the success of Islamic revolution in Iran, yet Allama Safdar Najafi was the first scholar who translated the book of religious decrees of Imam Khomeini in Urdu and that was itself a great service to the followers of Shia Islam.
Allama Safdar Najafi played a leading role in Shia religious politics. He actively participated in the struggle of Shia notables led by scholars to attain legitimate Constitutional rights during martial law regime of the dictator Ziaul Haq. He was one the founding fathers of Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafaria Pakistan that later renamed in 1990s as Tehrik-e-Jafaria Pakistan. He was also an architect of the TNFJ constitution.
After the sad demise of Allama Mufti Jafar Hussain, founding head of Tehreek, Allama Najafi was floated as his successor as his name was proposed by many to lead the Tehreek but he excused hence the Wizarat Naqvi, another Shia notable had proposed the name of Allama Arif Hussain al Hussaini as TNFJ leader.
Allama Safdar Najafi had proposed solutions to the problems faced by Shia Muslims and his proposals are relevant even after passage of three decades.
