More than 50 custodians of Muslim saints’ shrines belonging to southern Punjab rallied at a conference under the aegis of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen to express their solidarity against the anti-shrines takfiris and demanded of the government to crush takfiri terrorists without any delay.
Thaffuz-e-Mazarat-e-Auliya Conference or a congregation for protection of the sacred shrines was held at the shrine of Hazrat Shah Shams known as Shams Tabriz in Multan. Sunni and Shia Muslim scholars and custodians of the Muslim saints’ shrines joined hands against the ideology of hatred and intolerance of the takfiris.
They pledged unity against the takfiris and their facilitators and demanded of the government to take stern and immediate action against the perpetrators of the blasts at the shrines of Muslim saints such as Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Bari Sarkar, Baba Farid Ganj Shakar, Data Darbar, Shah Noorani, Sakhi Sarwar and Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. They demanded that their facilitators should also be brought to book. They demanded capital and exemplary punishment to them.
They demanded that government must make foolproof security arrangements to guard the shrine and protect the devotees/pilgrims. They said that auqaf department administers the affairs of the shrines where devotees/pilgrims donate hefty cash hence that money should be spent on the foolproof security as well instead of going to corrupt officials pockets.
