Interior ministry of Afghanistan said 18 militants were killed during mop-up operations across the country.

A statement issued by the ministry Saturday morning states that 12 other militants sustained injuries and six arrested during confrontation with security forces, Khaama Press reported.

The statement adds that the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Logar, Ghazni and Khost provinces in past 24 hours with the assistance of Afghan National Army (ANA) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel.

According to the statement, the security forces also seized two Improvised Explosive Devises (IEDs) in Nangarhar province.

Yesterday NDS issued a statement about arresting ten terrorists, including two suicide attackers, in Nangarhar.

According to NDS, suicide attackers were ready for attacks but before they could carry out attacks, security forces arrested them with their suicide vests, a weapon and a cell phone.

On Thursday, journalists were shown hundreds of weapons in the provincial police headquarters which were seized from different shops in Jalalabad city.
