Four Afghan National Army soldiers were killed in an explosion while thirty four militants have been killed in separate military operations across the country in past 48 hours, statements issued by the ministries of defense and interior said.
The statement issued by the Ministry of Defense does not contain information about the exact location of the explosion due to which four soldiers embraced martyrdom but states that it took place in past 48 hours, Khaama Press reported.
Defense Ministry statement also states that six militants were killed during the Operation Zulfiqar in Helmand province and nine others in other four provinces during confrontations between the military and the insurgents.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Defense, 74 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were also defused and a large number of arms and ammunition were confiscated by the military.
In the meantime, a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior states that twenty one militants were killed in separate joint operations in Baghlan, Takhar, Kunduz, Faryab, Nangarhar, Herat, Farah, Helmand, Nimroz, Sar-e-Pul, Jowzjan, Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces.
According the statement, the operations were jointly conducted by Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army and personnel from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in which eight other militants were also wounded and another was arrested.
After taking the full responsibility of the security from NATO forces this year, Afghan National Security Forces are conducting large scale military operations independently in different parts of the country.
