The Afghan Ministry of Interior said on Wednesday that 22 militants were killed in joint security operations across the country over the past 24 hours.
The operations were carried out in Heart, Nimroz, Maidan Wardak, Paktiya, Takhar, Kunduz, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Balkh, Kandahar, Zabul and Oruzgan provinces, the ministry said in a statement.
The operations were jointly conducted by Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army and personnel from the National Directorate of Security (NDS).
Some 22 militants were killed and nine others wounded in the operations.
According to security officials, the militant groups have lost more than 2000 fighters since January and some important commanders.
