A Taliban suicide bomber detonated explosives early Monday morning in Kabul city, killing at least one person and injuring 13 others all of whom were civilians.
According to Ministry of Interior spokesman Sediq Sediqqi, a suicide car bomber detonated his explosives in the Hawa Shinasi area of Kabul, which is close to the airport.
Kabul Police Chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi confirmed one person was killed and 13 others wounded.
Early reports stated four people were killed and local “TOLO News” says according to eyewitnesses many people were injured.
The explosion took place at about 8am local time – during peak traffic time in a densely populated area.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack and said via twitter that their target had been a foreign troop’s convoy.
