Iran not worried about recent developments in Iraq: Ali Larijani

The Speaker of Iran’s parliament has said Iran is not worried about recent protests in Iraq, because under the capable leadership of Iraq’s top Shi’ite Cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani and the experienced political leadership in Baghdad, the country is well capable of dealing with the situation.

Speaking at a press conference on the occasion of Parliament (Majlis) Day on Sunday 1st December in Tehran, Ali Larijani emphasized that Iran is not worried about recent protests in Iraq since the capable leadership of that country will certainly deal with the situation.

Asked whether there will be any breakthroughs in the deadlock between Tehran and Washington. Larijani said the maximum pressure policy of Trump administration is wrong, and Americans must certainly rethink this policy.

Larijani pointedly added: “This policy (of maximum pressure) has not worked in the past either. If the Americans learn from their past mistakes and don’t repeat the same mistake. Then I think there is no deadlock, and we will move forward.
