Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underscored that enhancement of unity among Muslims is the best defensive weapon against the divisive plots hatched by the enemies to wreak havoc on the Islamic Ummah.
Speaking in a meeting with Head of Mauritania-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group in Tehran on Sunday, Larijani reiterated that the extremist and terrorist currents are committing different crimes in the Muslim countries and the Muslim states leaders should pay sufficient attention to the return of Muslim world to unity and solidarity.
In January, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message to his counterparts in Islamic countries felicitated the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), and underlined the necessity for strengthening unity among Muslims.
In separate messages to the heads of the Islamic states, President Rouhani expressed the hope that those “who care about Muslim Ummah and lovers of the Holy Prophet of Islam would pay due attention, more than ever, to the necessity of the Islamic unity”.
He stressed that Islamic unity is a must in conditions that the “world of Islam is burning in the fire of extremism and provocative acts to trigger tribal and religious prejudice and now that enemies of Islam are presenting a distorted and wrong image of Islam which is a religion of peace”.
