Iran rejects baseless claims of PGCC ministerial meeting

iranForeign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast rejected Tuesday certain baseless claims made by participants in the 124th ministerial meeting of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) in its final document on the three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf.

Mehmanparast said, the three islands of the Greater and the Lesser Tunbs as well as the Abu Musa “were, are and will remain the inseparable parts of the Islamic Republic of Iran for ever.”

Rejecting the claims of Iran’s alleged involvement in internal affairs of other countries, the spokesman said, “Those old-fashioned claims are of no use and instead of being based on realities are made upon attempts by officials of certain states to avoid being accountable to their people.”

Mehmanparast reiterated that repeating those claims would never change the realities of the region.
The 124th session of the PGCC ministerial meeting was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on September 2, 2012.
