Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says Israel is taking advantage of the Islamic world’s negligence to commit crimes against Palestinians.
Speaking in a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet members in Tehran on Monday, Ayatollah Khamenei said what is happening in Gaza is “truly catastrophic.”
The Leader added that the Israeli massacre in Gaza should awaken the Islamic governments and nations and convince them to put aside their differences and become united.
Ayatollah Khamenei also described as proper the Iranian president’s stance and the government’s measures regarding the sad incidents in Gaza and the killings of Palestinians, especially women and children.
On Saturday, President Rouhani assigned Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to employ all resources available to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to put an end to Israel’s atrocities in Gaza.
Rouhani, as the rotating president of NAM, also made telephone calls to the heads of key NAM member states, the head of Arab League, and leaders of regional countries, underlining the need for prompt measures by the international community to stop the atrocities.
Some 190 Palestinians have so far been killed and nearly 1,300 others injured since the Israeli military began a fresh wave of aerial assaults on the Gaza Strip on July 8.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Tel Aviv will not stop its attacks on Gaza.
