Rouhani congratulates Muslim nations on Eid al-Fitr

hasan rohani5Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has offered congratulatory messages to leaders and people of Muslim nations across the world on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a Monday message, President Rouhani expressed hope that Islamic nations, by remaining vigilant against the plots of the enemies of Islam, strengthen their unity and thwart the evil scheme of inciting Islamophobia in the world by taking a stand against oppression and aggression.
In his messages, the Iranian president further expressed regret that in the holy month of Ramadan, which is the month of peace, the Muslim world has been witnessing brutal Israeli aggression against innocent Palestinians in Gaza on one hand, and seeing acts of terror committed in Iraq and Syria, on the other.
Rouhani said terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq have targeted Muslim unity by sowing discord and fueling sectarian and religious conflicts.
President Rouhani further wished the leaders and nations of all Muslim countries prosperity and success.
Also in a separate congratulatory message to the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani on the occasion, President Rouhani expressed hope for the further promotion of unity and friendship among the Islamic Ummah.
The fasting month of Ramadan – the ninth month on the Islamic calendar – culminates in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which is one of the main Muslim holidays. On Eid al-Fitr, Muslims are encouraged to be especially generous and forgiving.
In Iran, Tuesday is expected to be declared as Eid al-Fitr since the moon crescent, which marks the beginning of the new month, could not be sighted in the country by Monday.
Under the Islamic law, the old month’s end is declared only after the new moon crescent is sighted.
