Member of National Wisdom Movement of Iraq denounced the US sanctions on Iran as cruel and in contravention of the International Law, saying that Iraq under no circumstances will follow the US sanctions.
Mohsen Hakim urged all countries to help de-escalate tensions between Iran and the US, saying that self-restraint will benefit all regional countries.
Referring to enhanced relations between Iran and Iraq, he said that Iraq will stand by Iran in this critical situation.
Iraqi politicians and government leaders will spare no efforts to help relieve the pain and pressures imposed on Iranians, Hakim noted.
Referring to unilateral sanctions imposed by US on Iran, the Iraqi official said Iraq does not consider itself as part sanctions system against Iran.
Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has been endorsed by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231, he reiterated.
He went on to say that systematic and inseparable relations between Iran and Iraq have made Iraq not to follow unilateral sanctions.
He noted that 1,200 MW electricity and 45% of the gas needed for the Iraqi power plants are being supplied by Iran, adding that both countries enjoy over $8b trade a year.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hakim revealed the fact that Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi in his recent visit to Germany and France raised the issues about Iran with them.
