The Lebanese parliament speaker says the enemies of the Middle Eastern countries are making efforts to fuel insecurity in the region in order to deflect attention from Israel’s atrocities in Palestine.
Nabih Berri made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi in Beirut on Sunday.
Berri described the Zionist regime of Israel as the common enemy of the regional countries.
Berri further expressed pleasure over the agreement between Iran and the P5+1 group over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.
The Lebanese parliament speaker said that Iran’s insistence on its inalienable right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes made the Western countries retreat from their stances and somehow recognize Tehran’s nuclear rights.
Roknabadi, for his part, reiterated Iran’s principled policy of supporting stability in all regional countries, particularly Lebanon.
He urged regional nations to remain united in the face of Israel.
Berri and Roknabadi also discussed Tehran-Beirut bilateral ties as well as regional developments.
Iranian officials have time and again voiced Tehran’s support for unity and solidarity among different groups in Lebanon.
