More than 11 million Syrians need humanitarian aid: UN

UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock announced on Friday that over 11 million Syrians across the Arab country are in need of humanitarian aid.

Mark Lowcock called on the UN Security Council members to extend the program of assistance to the Syrian people through the borders, which ends in coming December.

Lowcock warned that without a cross-border operation, “We would see an immediate end of aid supporting millions of civilians,” which would cause “a rapid increase in hunger and disease.”

“A lot more people would flood across the borders, making an existing crisis even worse in the region,” he underlined according to UN News.

The Syrian crisis began on March 15, 2011; with the widespread aggression of terrorist groups backed by Saudi Arabia, the US and their allies to change the region’s equations in favor of the Zionist regime.

Millions of Syrians have been killed, wounded or displaced as a result of the crisis.
