The Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Parties in Syria has recorded 21 episodes of shelling by the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group in the Idlib de-escalation zone in the past 24 hours.
“Twenty-one incidents of shelling by the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group have been recorded in the Idlib de-escalation zone,” Alexander Grinkevich, the center’s deputy chief, said at a briefing on Wednesday.
The deputy chief added that no incidents of shelling by Turkey-controlled illegal armed groups were documented.
“The Russian reconciliation center urges the commanders of illegal armed groups to drop armed provocations and to embark on the path of peaceful settlement in the areas under their control,” Grinkevich said.
Apart from that, he added that the Russian military police conducted patrols in the Aleppo, Al-Hasakah, and Deir ez-Zor regions.
The Russian reconciliation center continues to fulfill assigned tasks after the completion of the military campaign in Syria. The center’s officers regularly travel around the country’s liberated areas to assess the humanitarian situation. The main efforts of the Russian military are now focused on assistance to the refugees returning to their homes and evacuation of civilians from de-escalation zones.
