The Bahraini regime seeks to shift the demographic combination in the Persian Gulf monarchy to protect the interests of the Sunni community.
Reports indicate that Bahraini officials have set plans for the immigration of tens of thousands of people from various tribal regions of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yemen, Iraq, Pakistan and Ethiopia to the Persian Gulf island nation.Â
Meanwhile, a series of state-constructed buildings that were planned to accommodate Bahraini citizens have been allocated to the tribal people who immigrate to Bahrain.Â
In another move, the Al Khalifa regime provided certain individuals with residential buildings that were originally registered by Shias in Dar al-Kalib and Shahrakan regions in 2003.Â
Bahraini officials have been making efforts to persuade the nationals of the aforementioned countries to immigrate to Bahrain in return for certain incremental monthly payments.Â

This is while a number of Shia local government workers have also recently lost their jobs and have been replaced with employees with other backgrounds.Â
Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds more have been arrested or fired from their jobs since the beginning of a popular uprising in Bahrain in February 2011.Â
