Russia: US Attacking Civilians, Infrastructures on Pretext of Targeting ISIL in Syria

Russia’s airbase in Lattakia province, Humeimim, said on Monday that the US and its affiliated forces of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are targeting infrastructures and civilians on the pretext of war against ISIL.

The Russian airbase stressed that the recent US offensives which are claimed to be against the ISIL in Syria were launched after the terrorist group resumed its activities with Washington support.

It added that the infrastructures and civilians in Syria are the only target of the US and its allies’ attacks.

Meantime, the SDF claimed earlier today that it has cleansed 18sq/km of ISIL-occupied areas in Deir Ezzur province during operations on Eastern Euphrates in the past 5 days with the support of the US fighter jets and French forces.

Humeimim airbase had also announced in a statement late in April that satellite images showed that the ISIL was recruiting and reinforcing itself in Deir Ezzur after receiving aid from the bordering areas in Eastern Syria in February.

Well-informed sources said on Sunday that the ISIL terrorist group was preparing to launch a fresh round of attacks on the Syrian Army positions in Deir Ezzur province to slow down the government forces’ advances against their comrades in Hajar al-Aswad region in the Southern part of Damascus province.

The sources said that ISIL has recently gathered a large number of gunmen in the Western part of the Western Badiyeh (desert) in Eastern Deir Ezzur to launch an imminent attack on the army positions to decrease the army units’ military pressure on the ISIL terrorists in Hajar al-Aswad and Yarmouk Camp in the Southern part of Damascus province.

The sources further pointed to the recent reports on the resumption of ISIL military activities in Deir Ezzur with the US’ green light.
