Pakistans observe Police Martyrs Day by offering special prayers and ceremonies to honour the cops who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
People across the country held special events and vigils where police chiefs and government officials also paid tributes to the martyrs.
They lauded martyrs for their efforts to combat terrorism and ensure peace and security of the people.
Most importantly, President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi also paid tributes. He said that the nation remains indebted to martyrs who laid down their lives for security of the country.
Furthermore, He cited that despite difficult situation and limited resources, the police have played an exemplary role in the establishment of peace. Alvi also praised martyred police cops for protecting the lives of people.
Meanwhile, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa also hailed the martyrs. “Salute to martyrs of Pakistan Police & their families on Police Martyrs Day,” he said as per ISPR tweet.
Notably, he said Pakistan Police over the years has proved to be a strong professional force. Pakistan Police has made phenomenal contributions alongside other security forces in counter terrorism operations. The COAS also expressed solidarity
with their families.
Moreover, Interior Minister Ijaz Shah lauded the services of the martyred police officers. He said their sacrifices are “testimony to the fact that Pakistan is in safe hands”.
“Police [are] always ready to lay down their lives for dignity and survival of the country,” Shah added.
