MWM stages token sit-in to express solidarity with Sunni leader Tahir ul Qadri

Supporters of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen staged a token sit-in on Saturday and observed Sunday as Martyrs Day to express solidarity with the MWM’s ally Dr Tahir ul Qadri, Chairman, Pakistan Awami Tehrik.

The sit-in was staged at Numaish Chowrangi outside of mausoleum of founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Traffic was diverted to alternate route as the MWM supporters and officials of the allied parties joined sit-in on main road.

Officials of the MWM, PMLQ, Sunni Ittehad Council, Minhaj ul Quran and Pakistan Awami Tehrik, maintained that the countdown of pro-takfiri PMLN government began. Allama Baqar Zaidi, Maulana Ali Anwar, Ali Hussain and other officials said that Nawaz Sharif wanted to turn Pakistan into a Saudi Wahhabi state where intolerant fanatic takfiri mindset would dominate the peaceful and tolerant Sunni and Shia Muslims.

The protestors were raising slogans such as “Go Nawaz Go” and “This fraudster government has to quit”. They vented their anger calling government as rowdy and founder of police state within Pakistan.

Said leaders expressed their support to the call of protest and condemned the witch hunt against the political opponents of Nawaz-led and Shahbaz-led governments. They said that Martyrs Day would be observed in all cities on Sunday. They said Model Town massacre was a great tragedy and PMLN government must be held accountable for that. They demanded that blockade of Punjab should be lifted forthwith.
