Allama Syed Javad Naqvi is a renowned Shia Islamic scholar and founder leader of Islamic Ummah’s Awakening Movement in Pakistan.
He runs Shia Islamic seminary Jamia Urwatul Wusqa Lahore. Although he believes in Sunni-Shia unity, he used to criticise democracy, politicians and other scholars.
Earlier, many Sunni religious scholars have met him. For instance, Molana Imran Bashir visited Jamia Urwatul Wusqa (university).
Moreover, he had lauded organized work for unity of Muslims at Islamic seminary level. He had referred to misuse of seminaries in the name of (fake) jihad.
Apart from it, Javad Naqvi has established close friendly ties with Deobandi scholars such as Tariq Jameel.
Democracy and Politicians
While speaking at a gathering in his Urwatul Wusqa University, Javad Naqvi lashed out at politicians of Pakistan.
Specially, he accused politicians of not believing in democracy. He also hit out at religio-political parties’ leaders, asserting they don’t believe in religion.
