Chief of the Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa called on commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami.

Furthermore, COAS Bajwa pointed to common religion, culture and historical background of Iran and Pakistan. He said that the numerous common grounds serve to promote cooperation.
Moreover, he also appreciated Iran’s major role in fighting Takfiri terrorism in the region especially in Iraq and Syria.
Meanwhile, Pasdaran commander Salami said that the US and Israel are common enemies of the Muslim World. Hence, he called for solidarity of the Islamic Ummah to thwart conspiracies against Muslims.

Specially, General Salami appreciated Pakistan for its valuable efforts for deescalation in the region.
He cited the strategy of Iran and Pakistan regarding sustainable development as common and intertwined.
Commonalities between Pakistan and Iran
He said their strategy makes no distinction between the Shia and Sunni Muslim communities.
Mr. Salami also pointed to religious, cultural commonalities and common borders of neighbouring Iran and Pakistan.
Besides, both sides raised the topics including military and security relations, fighting outlaws and terrorists at common borders. Pakistan and Iran share their respective experience and promote educational and research cooperation.
Pakistan Army Chief Tehran visit
Pakistan Army Chief landed in Iran on Monday.
He met Iran President, Foreign Minister and top military officials.
In those high-profile meetings, both sides agreed to expand bilateral relations.

During meeting with Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, expansion of bilateral defense cooperation dsicussed.
According to Iranian media, COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa is leading a high-ranking delegation.
They met Commander of Iran’s Army Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, he also called onIran National Security head Shamkhani.
Meetings explore avenues
Notably, Pakistani and Iranian senior officials reviewed the avenues regarding strengthening bilateral relations in the military as well as security affairs.
Furthermore, they also discussed maintaining security of borders, preventing the activities of terrorist groups, and promoting border trade exchange.
Both sides also exchanged views on convergence among Islamic countries.
COAS met Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani and Army Chief Major General Abdul Rahim Mousavi.
Regional security environment and bilateral defence cooperation discussed.
Pakistan and Iran have a history of close ties. Particularly, military to military relations also remain strengthened.
Specially, Pakistan Army Chief Bajwa has visited Iran first in November 2017.
