Foreign Minister of Pakistan to meet UNSG and US officials during US visit.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi has departed to New York today.
According to Foreign Office (FO), Shah Mehmood will meet United Nations Secretary General in New York on January 15 (US timing).
Makhdoom Shah Mehmood will hold visit Washington DC where he will hold meetings with US government officials in on Jan 16-17.
The Foreign Minister will also meet Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, National Security Advisor Robert O’ Brien and other senior administration officials.
He will also focus on Pakistan’s diplomatic partner for peace initiative during official talks.
Foreign Minister has begun foreign visits on the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan due heightened tensions in the Middle East and Persian Gulf.
However, Pakistan peace diplomacy underlines supporting efforts for de-escalation and resolution of differences and disputes through political and diplomatic means.

He will highlight the value Pakistan attaches to a broad-based, long-term and enduring partnership with the US in line with the vision of the leaders of both countries.
Meanwhile, situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the Afghan peace process will also come under discussion.
FM Shah Mehmood will alao visit Capitol Hill.
There, he will meet US legislators.
Moreover, he will have engagements with media, think-tanks and the Pakistani diaspora.
Iran welcomes Pakistan efforts
Iran President Dr Hassan Rouhani welcomed Pakistan efforts to promote peace, stability in region.
He said that Iran believes dispute among Muslim states will not benefit anyon.
Hence, Iran welcomes Islamabad’s efforts to boost peace and stability in the region.
Qureshi reaffirmed that Pakistan remain committed to play an active and positive role for bringing peace in the region.
