Kashmiris are observing Kashmir Martyrs Day to pay homage to martyrs of July 13, 1931.

They are observing the Kashmir Martyrs Day on both sides of the Line of Control in occupied Kashmir (IOJK) and Azad Kashmir (AJK) and rest of the world.

However, occupied Kashmir is also witnessing a shutdown commercial strike on a call from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.

On the 13th July 1931, the troops of Dogra Maharaja had killed 22 Kashmiris. They killed them one after the other, outside the Central Jail in Srinagar.

Besides, they perpetrated this crime during the court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked the Kashmiri people to defy the Dogra rule.

Meanwhile, the APHC spokesman issued a statement in Srinagar.

It said that on 13th July 1931, when it was time for Namaz-e-Zuhr, a young man, started the call for prayer (Azaan) but Maharaja’s soldiers shot dead him.

Thus, 22 youth sacrificed their lives till the completion of Azaan.

In this regard, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) president Sardar Masood Khan also released a video message on the occasion of Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, he slammed Indian atrocities in IOJK.

He called on international community to play its role in finding lasting solution to Kashmir dispute according to the UN Resolutions.

He said in continuation to massacre of 13 July 1931, now the Modi government has invoked the policy of ethnic cleansing of the Kashmiri people in order to change the demography of the state.

Furthermore, he termed it the worst example of colonialism in 21st century.

The AJK President said new domicile rules aimed at converting Muslim majority into minority. Because the BJP govt encourages Indian Hindus settling in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
