A countrywide protest day was observed on Friday against Hazar Ganji Tragedy in which 13 Shia Muslims were martyred.
Like other parts of Pakistan, protest and condolence meetings were also held in Karachi. Reports had it that demonstrations were staged outside Khoja Masjid Kharadar where Maulana Shabbir Meesmi and Maulana Jafar Subhani of Shia Ulema Council spoke.
Another protest demo was held outside Imam Bargah Hussaini Malir where MWM leaders spoke. Such protest was also staged at Masjid-e-Noor-e-Iman and other mosques after Friday prayers.
The religious scholars who spoke at the demonstrations condemned the act of terrorism and said that terrorists deserve capital punishment. They said that martyrdoms of 13 Shias in Hazar Ganji Tragedy were nothing but a part of ongoing genocide of Shias.
They said that government and security agencies have failed to punish the terrorists. They said the terrorists must be hanged publicly.
