Police and other security forces here claimed to have arrested over 40 suspected Afghan nationals during a search operation in an area around the PAF’s Khalid Airbase.
Police said on Tuesday night that the Afghan nationals were living in the area illegally.
“They were handed over to the authorities concerned for investigation,” they said.
The action was part of a crackdown on militants and criminal elements following the terrorist attack on Pakistan Air Force’s Badaber camp in Peshawar in which 29 military personnel and civilians lost their lives.
On the night of Aug 14 last year, 12 terrorists attacked the PAF’s Samungli and Khalid airbases, but the army, police, Frontier Corps and PAF repulsed the attack.
All the attackers were killed.
