Caravan of Pride: Worst scam with Zaireen in Pakistan’s history, Zaireen displaced
For the first time in the history of Pakistan a tour group scammed the Zaireen (visitors) of Imam Hussain (as) which affected eleven hundred and ninety five (1195) visitors of Imam Hussain (as) from the entire country. According to the Shiite news reporter, the leaders of the group named Caravan of Pride were Ali Jafar from Rawalpindi and Aunn Jafri from Karachi and they took 60,000 PKR from each visitor of Imam Hussain (as) and promised them for Ziaraat of Iran and Iraq on Ashura and Arbaeen but they only provided visa to 250 people. Leaving all other behind they took only 250 people to Iran and then left them at Iraq’s Mehran border and ran away. The visitors, after spending two days and nights in the cold weather at the Iran-Iraq border, reached Qum on Ashura where Pakistani Shia community, students and religious scholars (Ulema) arranged for their food and living.
According to the news received from Qum, the duration of visitors’ Iran’s visa is also ending and they have been waiting for their return flight whereas they would also have to pay fine to Iran’s government in case of their stay after the expiry of visa. On the other hand, many visitors have returned to Pakistan on their own.
Sources told that Ali Jafar and Aun Jafri arranged only for the visa and tickets of 250 people out of 1100 visitors. On the other hand, people who came to Karachi from other cities to travel with this group had been facing severe problems in Karachi but no one listened to them.
This worst example of fraud has revealed humans’ insensitivity. It is disturbing and saddening to see people playing with the emotions of Imam Hussain (as)’s devotees just because of money.
