Saudi Policy failed: Pakistan’s leadership on trip to mediate Saudi-Iran tensions
Shiite News: Pakistan’s PM Nawaz Sharif and COAS General Raheel Sharif are on a trip to Saudi Arabia and Iran in order to try and mediate the ongoing dispute between archrivals Saudi Arabia and Iran. They want to stimulate the conciliation process between the two countries. Both the leaders will reach Riyadh on Monday and will go to Tehran on Tuesday. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry says that Islamabad is deeply concerned at the recent escalation of tensions between the two countries.
Saudi Arabia had tried hard to include Pakistan in the 34 countries military alliance but the army chief General Raheel Sharif completely rejected Saudi Arabia’s demand and refused to send Pakistan’s military to Saudi Arabia, in name of the so-called alliance against terrorism. General Raheel Sharif, instead, decided to play the role of a mediator between Iran and Saudi Arabia, in accordance with the demands of Pakistani nation.
