The birth anniversary of commander of faithful Hazrat Imam Ali (AS) was celebrated across the world.
Mosques, Imam Bargahs, houses and streets were illuminated. Special prayers were offered and ziarat and qaseeda were recited to mark the anniversary.
The jubilant Shia Muslims cut cake and distributed sweets. They wore new dresses and celebrated the day as a day of Eid.
Main congregation was held at the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf. The celebrations were also witnessed at the holy shrines of Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala, Imam Moosa Kazim (AS) and Imam Mohammad Taqi (AS) in Kazimain Iraq, of Imam Ali Raza (AS) in Mashad Iran and at the holy shrine of Imam Ali Naqi (AS) and Imam Hassan Askari (AS) in Samarra Iraq.
Shiites of Pakistan took out processions and also held mushairas to pay tributes to Imam Ali (AS). Similar reports were received from India, Iran, Europe, Africa and America.
Hazrat Imam Ali (AS) is cousin and son in law of Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), the last apostle and Prophet of God.
