The administrative judge of antiterrorism courts remanded a Deobandi terrorist Nasrtullah of banned outfit in the custody of the Counter-Terrorism Department in a case pertaining to a deadly shoot-out in the Urdu Bazaar area last month.
The CTD produced Nasrullah before the court for remand and submitted that the suspect was an alleged facilitator of terrorism as he had provided a house to the suspected militants on rent.
The administrative judge handed over him to the CTD on physical remand till May 10 and directed the investigating officer to produce him again with a progress report.
He is said to be a relative of one of the four suspected militants, who were killed in a seven-hour-long gun battle with Rangers on April 24 in the city’s Urdu Bazaar area.
The prosecution said that Rangers had raided a residential building where the deadly gun battle took place when the Deobandi militants, associated with banned Deobandi terror outfit Jundullah, attacked the paramilitary soldiers. Four Rangers’ personnel and two passers-by were wounded in the gun battle.
