Martyrdom anniversary of Amir al Maumineen Hazrat Imam Ali (AS) is being observed with due solemnity across Pakistan today (Saturday). Shia Muslims have brought out mourning processions in every nook and cranny of Pakistan to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary.
Various programmes have been chalked out in connection with the day where Ulema and scholars have highlighted the sacred life and services of Hazrat Imam Ali for the sake of Islam and humanity.
Due to security threat from takfiri terrorists of banned outfits, beefed up security measures have been adopted. In Karachi, All the shops on the route of the processions were sealed while containers were also placed to prevent entry from other roads and streets joining the MA Jinnah Road.
Sindh government has banned pillion riding and mobile phone services in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpur Khas and other cities to avoid any untoward situation. The ban is not applicable to women, people with disabilities, elderly people, journalists and children under the age of 12.
Police and Rangers personnel also launched a search operation in different areas in Karachi after the flag march and found a suspicious box. Bomb disposal squad was called in who declared the box clear as no explosive was recovered.
Mourning processions were on their way to final destination across the country, till the filing of this report.
