Hearing of appeal of Allama Sibtain in Azam Tariq murder case adjourned till Sept 21

An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad Thursday fixed date of September 21, for arguments in a case seeking acquittal of Allama Sibtain Kazmi from Azam Tariq murder case. Azam Tariq was head of banned Deobandi terrorist outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba aka ASWJ, mother of Lashar-e-Jhangvi.

ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjamend picked up the case filed by Allama Kazmi seeking his acquittal from the murder case of the notorious ringleader of banned terrorist outfit ASWJ who was gunned down in 2003.
During yesterday hearing, the FIA produced Sabtain Kazmi before ATC under foolproof security. Zulifqar Abbasi Advocate appeared before the court as counsel for the accused.
The court also extended the judicial remand of the accused besides fixing date for arguments regarding his acquittal from the murder case.
It may be mentioned here that Azim Tariq was gunned down along with his three guards and a driver in the limits of Islamabad Golra Police Station in 2003.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested Allama Kazmi, as the central accused, in the case from Islamabad Airport who was leaving for United Kingdom. Allama Kazmi is an eminent Shia scholar and he said he had nothing to do with the murder since he and his party believe in peaceful struggle and turn down violence.
