Shia religio-political parties and Shia prayer leaders strongly condemned the suicide bombings at the Methodist Church in Quetta that left at least nine people dead and many others injured on Sunday.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, secretary general, Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, expressed profound grief over loss of human lives in the terrorist attack. He expressed sympathy with the heirs of victims of terrorism. He said that the terrorists, who have attacked churches, mosques, Imam Bargahs, etc, are enemies of Islam and Pakistan. He said the terrorists want to create impression that Pakistan is an unsafe and insecure country so that foreign investors should not invest here and they also pose threat to CPEC. Therefore, he urged, the terrorists must be eliminated forthwith. He urged the federal government to shoulder its responsibility instead of creating political tension.
Allama Nazir Taqvi, President Shia Ulema Council, Sindh chapter, said that had the Balochistan government punished the terrorists due to their attacks in past, their abettors and facilitators would have been sacred. He said that all remnants of terrorists must be eliminated under Operation Raddul Fasaad.
Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain, Allama Hussain Masoodi, Allama Mohammad Aun Naqvi, Allama Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi, Allama Sadiq Jafari, Maulana Hameed al Hussaini also condemned the Church attack and expressed sympathy with the Christian community over the inhuman and anti-Islamic terrorist attack on Christians.
