The incident took place early Saturday in the Nasabi’s dominated Charkhel area on Tal-Parachinar road in the violence-hit Kurram tribal district, close to the Afghan border.
According to the Shiite News Correspondent,Gunmen attacked the two minibuses with assault rifles and rocket propelled grenades as the convoy was heading towards Peshawar, the capital of the north-western province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, from Parachinar, the main town in Shia populated Kurram tribal district.
‘Six Shias martyred on the spot while 12 succumbed to their injuries when they were being transported to the hospital or at the hospital,’ said a health official at military-run hospital in Tull, a small town in the district of Hangu.
‘Among the dead are also eight women and one child,’ said the official. ‘Two of the four injured are in critical condition.’
Heavily armed Nasabi’s militants have besieged the Shiite-dominated areas, closing the Parachinar-Peshawar highway, the main road that links Shiite areas with the rest of the country.
The road closure has forced Shiite tribesmen to travel via the Afghan province of Paktika to reach Peshawar. But even that route is not safe.
The militants have the stronghold of Tal Parachinar road and it has been blocked for three years. It is to notify that the passengers’ convoy goes once in a week, escorted by political administration, still the lives are not safe.
Jafaria Alliance President Allama Abbas Kumaili and Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen Deputy Secretary General Maulana Ameen Shaheedi condemned the attack of Nasabi militants on Shia convoy.
They termed incident as an open terrorism, calling government for stepping up security measures for public at roads and open markets.
They alleged that Political administration of Lower -Kurram has involved in the attacks on Shia Convoy and demanded of the President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to take immediate notice of the involvement of Lower Kurram Administration on the attack on Shia convoy.
The relevant authorities had recently claimed that they had eliminated a terrorist network in Kurram Agency but closure of the Peshawar-Parachinar road is a proof that they were wrong in saying so.
Victims’ relatives and independent analysts condemned terrorists and the government alike for attack and failure to prevent attacks respectively.
“These are Nasbi-Salafi terrorists who have always been oxygenated by the Zionist-Wahhabi alliance and by their allied governments and allied intelligence networks across the world, said an independent observer.
Pakistani branch of this terrorist network is known as Sipah-e-Sahaba whose off-shoot Lashkar-e-Jhangvi follow the nasbi-wahabi ideology hijacking the Deobandi ideology. However, theory-makers are of the views that these terrorists cannot work freely without fifth column within the powerful quarters.Back to top button
Analysts cite that shrines of religious saints, mosques, Imam Bargahs, army headquarters and innocent civilians were attacked by these terrorists.
Public opinion is convinced that the United States benefit from terrorism in this region because terrorism is cited as a justification to prolong the U.S. military stay in Afghanistan.
