Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, secretary general of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, has said that restoration of wheat subsidy to people of Gilgit-Baltistan is tantamount to a humiliating defeat of the government.
“We congratulate Awami Action Committee and people of Gilgit-Baltistan for their historic triumph against the corrupt rulers,” he said speaking to the MWM’s workers at Wahdat House in Karachi on Tuesday.
He said that unwavering unity and mass resistance to the wrongdoings of the government made their 12-days long but historic sit-in a success. He said that loyal sons of the soil and traitors were exposed during those hours of trial.
“Despite all hardships and plots, people of Gilgit-Baltistan demonstrated steadfastness. They came out of their houses and joined hands for the first time in the history for a common cause. They deserve praise. It is miracle that peaceful struggle bore fruit, they set precedent,” he said.
Allama Jafari urged the compatriots to learn a lesson from successful public struggle in Gilgit-Baltistan and establish unity for common issues. He said that terrorists pose grave threat to people and the country hence people should also come out to defy the terrorists.
“The mass struggle for legitimate rights is the beginning of a long journey. This should be expanded to all parts of Pakistan. People should also defeat the plotters and enemies in forthcoming elections to legislative council of Gilgit-Baltistan,” he urged.
The MWM chief said that his party would continue to support the oppressed people in their just struggle against the injustices. He said that Pakistani nation deserves a bright present and the brightest future.
