United States Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday telephoned Caretaker Prime Minister retired Justice Nasir ul Mulk and expressed well wishes for the caretaker government on behalf of US President Donald Trump, Radio Pakistan reported.
Both the leaders agreed to further strengthen the bilateral relations and also talked about pursuing joint targets of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Moreover, the caretaker prime minister informed Pence that the interim government was providing all possible assistance to the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold free, fair, transparent and peaceful general election on time.
A day earlier, Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa met the interim prime minister and congratulated him on assuming the office of prime minister.
The army chief and the caretaker prime minister also discussed “matters pertaining to Pakistan Army” during their meeting, read a statement issued by the PM Office.
