The birth anniversary of Hazrat Bibi Zainab (AS), granddaughter of Prophet of Islam and Humanity Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), the last apostle of God, is being celebrated across the world on first day of the sacred month of Shaaban.
Bibi Zainab, elder daughter of Bibi Fatima Zahra and Hazrat Ali (AS), the infallible Imam, was younger sister of Imam Hassan (AS) and Imam Hussain (AS) who was born in Medina on 1st Shaaban, according to Islamic lunar calendar.
Shia Muslims mark the birth anniversary celebrations in commemoration of great lady of Ahl-e-Bait (AS) who is also known as Fatima Zahra II.
Shiites decorate their mosques and Imam Bargahs, streets and houses and also illuminate almost all buildings to commemorate the birth anniversary.
Special congregations are held to pay respect to Bibi Zainab (AS). Salient features of her sacred life and struggle for the cause of Islam, Muslims and humanity are highlighted in prose and poetry.
After massacre of Karbala, she and others were taken to Damascus where they were imprisoned. Her rejoinder to Umayyad dynastic tyrant Yazid in his Damascus Palace court that has been turned into a mosque and now called Jama’a Umavi, had exposed the inhuman, anti-Islam, anti-humanity, illegitimate and oppressive rule of Umayyad dynasty.
Throughout her entire life she remained a true servant of Allah Almighty. Even on the first night of Ashura massacre, she offered prayers and even tahajjud prayers (namaz-e-shab) and even after brutal massacre of members of House of Prophet of Islam and their loyal companions in Karbala, Bibi Zainab’s reaction was this historic statement: We saw nothing but the beauty of Allah (the only God). That reflected the profundity of Bibi Zainab’s divine adoration and relation with the Omnipotent Creator, who she saw the only God of mercy and beauty even after having seen the brutalities and atrocities of Yazidi forces in Karbala.
