Muzakrat1Thursday 29-12-2011

Talks were held between the leaders of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and Jamaat-e-Islami to ease tension that gripped Punjab University on the issue of the IJT, the JI’s student wing who reportedly prevented Imamia Students Organization (ISO) from holding of Youm-e-Hussain (AS).

The leaders met at the JI’s headquarters in Mansoora Lahore. The JI was represented by secretary general Liaquat Baloch, provincial chapter’s officials Ameer ul Azeem, Hafeez Khan, Russel Khan, provincial chapter’s chief of J. Allama Amin Shaheedi, deputy secretary general and more members of central leadership: Abuzar Mehdavi, Nasir Shirazi, Afsar Hussain Khan, Maulana Ahmed Iqbal and Asad Naqvi.

These negotiations were held in a friendly environment. They reviewed the implications and impacts of the Punjab University Tragedy. They agreed that some ill-wishers resorted to riots taking advantage of these sorts of mishaps and that helps break the Sunni-Shia unity.

They agreed that Imam Hussain (AS) is a joint asset of Shia and Sunnis and to hold programmes to highlight the philosophy of his martyrdom is collective responsibility of both.

They agreed that like other parts of the country, Lahore’s educational institutions should also hold joint programmes. In those programmes, people be informed of role and life history of Imam Hussain (AS).

Since MWM and the JI have pleasant, brotherly and mutual loving relations and both believe in unity of Muslims, and it was also JI’s founder Maulana Moudoodi’s mission, hence relations should be based on unity. Alongside, elements that manipulate differences between these students organizations should also be discouraged and efforts be made to make them fail.

It was agreed that reconciliation between them was need of the hours. The IJT and the ISO’s meeting be held in the presence of Jamaat-e-Islami and the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen’s leaderships. They must pave way for a huge programme on Youm-e-Hussain (AS).

The JI and MWM officials condemned the thrashing of students, threatening them with dire consequences in their rooms, and rusticating them from university. They decided to adopt immediate measures required to ease tension. They condemned malicious propaganda and publishing of a magazine carried immoral contents. They decided effective steps be taken to avoid such things inn future.

They agreed that meetings with each other are good and more meetings should follow Thursday’s meetings. They decided to improve mutual cooperation for sorting out the problems of Pakistan and Muslim Ummah.

Youm-e-Hussain is held in educational institutions across Pakistan in commemoration of Imam Hussain (AS) on who Umayyad tyrant and dynastic regime of Yazid imposed a war in Karbala. Imam Hussain (AS), his progeny and companions fought that defensive war bravely.

Earlier, Maulana Shaheedi and Liaquat Baloch held another meeting. They discussed political conditions of Pakistan, corruption in government and private sectors and forthcoming Elections.
