The Israeli military has launched fresh attacks on Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.
Israeli forces on Monday fired shells at a position belonging to the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in Gaza, claiming that the attack was in response to an earlier assault by suspected Hamas members.
The Israeli military claimed that unknown assailants had targeted Israelis along the closed border between Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
There was no confirmation from Hamas, neither was there any report of casualties from both sides.
About 250 Palestinians and three dozen Israeli settlers and troops, as well as a number of foreigners have been killed since the violence erupted in October 2015.
