US Secretary of State Pompeo Visits Saudi Arabia, Meets King Salman

Saudi King Salman received US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Thursday, the second day of the US official’s three-day visit to Saudi Arabia.

They discussed the distinguished relations between the Kingdom and the United States. They also reviewed the position of the two countries on regional and international events.

This comes after a visit by bin Farhan Al Saud to Washington on February 12, during which he discussed the US-Saudi partnership in confronting Iran.

The US State Department said Pompeo will meet with Saudi King Salman, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman and Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan during a three-day visit to the Kingdom that begins on Wednesday.

The State Department said, in a statement, that the two ministers “discussed the need to confront the destabilizing actions of the Iranian regime.”

The statement also stated that the two ministers expressed concern about the violence in Yemen, especially Ansarullah’s attacks on Saudi Arabia, and agreed on “the need to reduce the escalation quickly.”

The Americans and the Zionists are betting on the Saudi financial and political system in the region to support the so-called deal of the century aimed at liquidating the Palestinian issue.
