Saudis support IAEA intense inspection of Iran’s nuclear sites

Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday that it supports the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to enhance inspections of Iranian nuclear sites and activities.

The Saudi envoy to Austria Abdullah bin Khalid bin Sultan said that Riyadh supports the intensification of the IAEA inspection of Iranian nuclear sites and activities; It is while the Saudi regime is internationally accused of supporting terrorism and massacring the Yemeni defenseless people.

In a part of his speech, Khalid bin Sultan claimed that the goals of Iran’s nuclear program must be determined.

The Director-General of the IAEA Rafael Grossi recently made allegations against Iran, claiming that Tehran had refused to give access to two of its nuclear sites.

Following the claims, France, Britain and Germany, the three European parties to Iran’s nuclear deal with major powers, have submitted a draft resolution to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors calling on Iran to provide access for the agency to two old sites, diplomats taking part in the virtual meeting said on Thursday.

Iran’s Permanent Representative to IAEA, Kazem Gharibabadi who attended the Thursday meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors on NPT safeguard called the Agency’s two requests for access based on invalid and alleged information and stated that Iran does not open its territory to the agency based on the claims of its enemies.

The quarterly meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors began as of Monday through video conference and will run through Friday, June 19.
