The US newspaper, Foreign Policy, said today, Saturday, that King Salman bin Abdulaziz asked US President Donald Trump to invade Qatar in 2017. In a report, the newspaper covered the Gulf crisis between Qatar on the one hand, and Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Bahrain in addition to Egypt, on the other hand.

According to Foreign Policy, King Salman bin Abdulaziz requested during a phone call he had with the US President on June 6, 2017, but Trump refused the invasion. It added that immediately after that, the United States asked Kuwait to mediate a solution to the crisis within the borders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

The Saudi prince, Abdulrahman bin Musaed had revealed the fevered rivalry between Qatar and Saudi Arabia in rapprochement with the United States of America in a series of tweets he had on July 13 last year, in which he attacked Qatar.
