Saudi Shia denounce Bahrain occupation

shiitenews_Saudi_Shia_denounce_Bahrain_occupationHundreds of protesters have poured into the streets in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province to condemn the kingdom’s occupation of Bahrain.

Expressing solidarity with anti-government protesters in Bahrain, Saudi demonstrators in the cities of Awamiyah and Qatif called for the immediate withdrawal of KSA troops from the neighboring country on Friday.

The protest rally came after Bahraini authorities announced that Saudi troops, helping Manama in its brutal crackdown on anti-regime protesters, will remain in the Persian Gulf island after it lifts emergency rule next month.

They expressed solidarity with the people of Bahrain, who are facing brutal crackdown and hardship from the Saudi and Bahraini forces.

Saudi protesters also called for human rights reform, freedom of expression and the release of political prisoners some held without trial for more than 16 years in Khobar Tower bomb blast.

Saudi Arabia’s east has been the scene of anti-government protests over the past months and authorities have arrested scores of people, including bloggers and writers, for taking part in protest rallies.

According to Human Rights Watch, more than 170 dissidents have been arrested since February as part of the Saudi government’s crackdown on anti-government protesters including 20 minor detainees accused in participating in the protest demonstration in Royal Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the Saudi government has banned mass prayers in support of Palestinians on Friday in the capital Riyadh.
