More Brits joining ISIL terrorists

Concerns grow in the UK about the increasing number of British citizens joining the ISIL Takfiri terrorists operating in the Middle East, Press TV reports.

According to a recent journal published by the Royal United Services Institute, there has been an increase in the number of Britons joining the ISIL terrorists fighting in the Middle East.

“If we want to know why it is suddenly a number of individuals have all taken it into their mind at about the same time to do this, then you will have to look at the broader political context and that is the context of the war on terror, is the context of continually bombing Muslim countries, is the context of constantly demonizing one section of the population here in Britain,” author and political commentator John Rees said in London.

In October, the Metropolitan police commissioner, Bernard Hogan-Howe, said at least five Britons are travelling to Iraq and Syria every week to join the ISIL Takfiri group.

“We know that over 500 British nationals travelled to join the conflict. Many have returned and many will wish to do so in the coming months and perhaps in future years,” Hogan-Howe added.

British Security chiefs have warned the British parliament of an “almost inevitable” militant attack in the country over the “acute” levels of terror activities.

In August, the MI5 raised the UK terrorist threat level to “severe,” the second highest out of five grades, meaning that an attack is “highly likely.”

More than 220 suspected terrorists have been arrested in the UK so far this year, according to the Home Office.

The ISIL terrorists currently control parts of Syria and Iraq. They have committed terrible atrocities in both countries, including mass executions and public decapitation of local residents as well as foreign nationals.
